Nils Karsten hasn't been able to put his talent under proof only by remixes for sizes like Scooter, Pulsedriver, Special D, Klubbheads, Chicane, Future Breeze, Black & White Brothers but also by the production of artists like Marky Mark (Mark Wahlberg) or Chartacts like APOLLO, D.O.N.S., FUTURE TRANCE UNITED, MEGARA VS DJ LEE oder DISCO NATION.

Nils Karsten was born in Hamburg in 1972. Already in the age of 2 years his musical talent stood out so that Nils could already attend many schools of music until its sixth year of life. During the following 12 years with classic piano lessons Nils attained many awards and 1st prices of "youth plays instruments" on regional and Federal level. Since the impulse grew to be able to play instruments still more with others, parallel to the piano lessons Nils started with trumpet lessons for the next 7 years at the State Opera of Hamburg in the age of 10 years.
This background of both instruments made it possible for Nils to be in different philharmonic orchestras and in many bands parallel as a Keyboarder or trumpets player actively. With this his know how regarding to pop music grew and from the drummers of the bands moreover he learned in addition to play the drums as a third instrument.

In the year 1988 Nils started for the first time with the production of own songs in the studio. The recording of his first CD with the band "The Spank" inspired Nils to build up a studio of his own and still to get active more and more also as a song writer. The working with studio hard- and software Nils could obtain by its activity of several years in the biggest music store in North Germany (Amptown) and at Steinberg.

Greater challenges and the cooperation with different artists followed first projects like the production of different advertising musics for Smileys, restaurants or magazines of the Jahreszeitenverlag.
By itself for the Jahreszeitenverlag Nils composed and produced over 40 songs for fashion videos of the women's magazine Petra. It shows parts of many fashion shows from Milan, Paris and New York of world-famous designers like Joop, Versace, D & G, Prada and many more. Nils awarded his Trumpetsound to various cinema and TV advertisement like Dr. Oetker, Cinemaxx or Nivea. Last commercial got even the golden nail on the ADC.

Nils 6 years work as a lightjockey in the discotheque Traxx (Hamburg), in which it know his in the meantime long-standing friend Michael-lee Bock, were also stamping for his musical variety. The direct contact to the party making audience consolidated its feeling which music and which sounds the audience liked or not.

Out of the passion and the fun with trance and techno numerous projects like MEGARA VS DJ LEE, APOLLO, CHEMISTRY, DJ LEE and VAN DER KARSTEN Michael-Lee Bock aka DJ lee and Nils have brought into being since the year 2000. With their first common production, the Vocal trance Hymn "Dance" they landed a solid Club hit at once. Apollo couldn't be placed only in the single sales charts, it became also an integral part of the Dj sets in UK, Italy, Japan and Spain.

Also their first MEGARA VS DJ LEE single "The Megara" brought the two Hamburger DJs and Producern so much recognition to, that a little bit later they were picked up by EMI with the energy trance hymn "Full intention" - an extremely catchy dance floor fountain. "Full intention" was found in the top Five of the DJ top 40, DDC and ODC by convincing chart placings already before being released. No wonder that the single celebrated the move into the Media Control Dance charts few weeks later. MEGARA´s latest trick “Hold your hands up high” and the newest single “Human Nature” are again uncompromising celebration tracks making every Club burning. The success doesn't stop here and the video is already being played at VIVA Club rotation and on the KING CHANNEL of Burger King. The interest in her projects increases visibly also abroad. Publications in Japan, Australia, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and The Netherlands speak for their outstanding quality.

The two Hamburgers are known for their unmistakable Sounds and secured their own place in the hard disputed Dance segment in a short time by their extraordinary quality. Since their first common production the two are considered highly as Remixers. Your Sound puts regularly new accents and they already delivered splendid Remixe so for numerous artists like Avantgarde, Beam vs. Cyrus, Darude, DeeDee, DJ Shog, Fragma, Project Medusa vs. Exor, Pulsedriver, Special D, Starsplash, Dumonde vs. Lange, Klubbingman, Kyau vs. Albert, Marc et Claude a.m.m. And quality always is at topmost place and all projects and remixes are being produced at Nils VAN DER KARSTEN Studio.

As Booking-DJ Nils has played in many places alone under VAN DER KARSTEN or together with DJ LEE as DJ TEAM MEGARA VS DJ LEE from Germany to Japan and could put his qualities as DJ on the Future trance UNITED tour and also on the Technics DJ set Tour under proof.

In 2004 Nils new single VAN DER KARSTEN - C.R.Y. has been releases on Aqualoop Records, witch has already published the last DJ LEE singles. At present Nils is working with different artists on over 20 titles for a soundtrack for a high-quality video DVD that comes along in Dolby Digital 5.1. Release date will be in late summer 2004.

Besides his work as a producer the since 2002 successfully graduated bachelor of commerce is working in Hamburg for the label Cuepoint Records since the end of 2003 and cares there about international license business, the releases and coordinates the marketing of the products.
